BOOKS, SCROLLS, AND ANCIENT LANGUAGES

The Transcriptions Series is created around the concepts of ancient books, ancient languages, and ancient prayers. These canvases have been influenced by the books and scrolls unearthed from antiquity. Sanskrit, Hebrew, Latin, and Ancient Phoenician are some of the languages incorporated within these mixed media paintings.

I’ve developed a passion for incorporating raw canvas into my paintings. The focus of the Canvas on Canvas works is on playing with the material and finding new methods for using the cloth. It may show up as a sculptural element, a method for featuring text, or to simply adhere it directly onto the canvas as an added textural element.

Circles and Grids

Circles, Grids, quotes, and collaged elements

These paintings were inspired by the elements and imagery on the pages of multiple sketchbooks completed in the past couple of years. I have been playing with the circle, grid, and collage elements. Each painting has a quote embedded into the background of the design, under the paint, present yet not readable.
